WANT SMOOTH? ALEXA HAS IT!!! Alexa is an eight year old Andalusian mare with tons of spirit and personality. She has excellent movement and is very athletic. This is a mare with tons of potential. She will excite an experienced rider who wants to go on the treasure hunt and discover how far she can go. She was sold as a yearling and the owner did not do much with her but leave her in pasture. We’ve had her back for two years and she has had those years in professional training where she is blossoming. However, she does need someone with experience and finesse. My trainer is really enjoying her as she is settling in to trusting her rider and relaxing in her environment. According to my trainer, Alexa doesn’t do anything “wrong” because an experienced rider can keep her focused. If the rider isn’t focused, Alexa will fill in the blanks and decide what she wants to do. We consider her a “hot” horse (in comparison to our Friesians! lol) but an experienced rider can ask her to focus and she won’t act on the “scare.” She has good ground manners and she loves attention and responds to it. She would make an excellent companion for those of us who loves a horse that loves us back. Her talents lie in dressage potential; she is smooth, smooth, smooth to ride, including her extensions -- and she leg yields, turns on the forehand and is working on the shoulder-in on the circle. The best way we can describe what kind of new owner would do well with Alexa is that Alexa thinks very quickly and tends to rush to conclusions. Her best match would be a calm, deliberate and experienced rider who can enjoy building a relationship while giving her patience and focus rather than pushing her to think more quickly.
